HS 495 Projects

HS495 Summer 2011 The Pitayitas Neighborhood, Tratados de Córdoba Boulevard in Córdoba, Mexico, was an exploration of urban design through the participatory design process. Students, under faculty direction, worked together during the five–week program and produced a presentation documenting the process and outlining preliminary design proposals and physical designs to be used by community and municipality to plan future development in the areas studied.  Some of the students in Mexico have used their newly acquired skills to convene community workshops in their neighborhood to develop a master plan and program for a neighborhood park.  This experience resulted in a publication in the NACTA journal special global edition, (Sherk, 2013)
