HS 252 Landscape Graphic Communications
An introduction to the basic graphic skills necessary to develop and communicate creative ideas in landscape design. Throughout the design process, we use a variety of graphics to communicate our ideas. In this class, students learn to use hand graphics throughout the design process; starting with analysis, moving on to concept, then to design development, and finally to illustrative renderings.
In the HS 252 class the students learn how to graphically communicate information that illustrates the design decision process, which is the vehicle whereby they develop their own critical thinking skills. This process engages them in analysis and synthesis, which results in providing a structure for identifying and solving landscape design problems.
Design students then generate preliminary ideas and evaluate them through criteria developed by them to determine what is relevant. Finally, students propose physical and programmatic solution based on how they structure the design problem.
